The 1936 Cord 810 was introduced at the New York Auto Show in November 1935 generating immediate and overwhelming demand. This stunning design, created by Gordon Buerig, incorporated many innovative features including the industry's first retractable headlights. The separate pontoon fenders and Coffin-Nosed hood combine with the low cut windshield and graceful lines to form an unforgettable image pre-dating the chopped custom hot rods of the 50s and widely regarded as perhaps the most beautiful automotive design of that era.

-----Powered by a 170 hp Lycoming V8 engine, the 810 employs front wheel drive and an electronic pre-selector gearbox. The interior is elegantly appointed with comfortable leather seats and trim and an engine-turned dashboard with instruments arranged in the style of an airplane cockpit.

-----One of two open models offered, the Cabriolet differs from the Convertible Coupe by the inclusion of a somewhat claustrophobic rear seat and a more pleasingly proportioned top flowing smoothly into the deck of the relatively diminished trunk. This particular car received a concourse restoration garnering a National First Place award in Antique Automobile Club of America competition in 1975. Although driven regularly, it has subsequently been lovingly and carefully preserved and remains in near perfect condition. Instantly recognizable, the Cord 810 Cabriolet never fails to turn heads and attract attention just as it did at the New York Auto Show in 1935.
